What about Qwo™?
Cellulite is thickening of fibrous septae under the skin that appear as dimpling. QWO™ is the first and only FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult females!
Research has found that QWO™ has three main functions resulting in Enzymatic Subcision and Remodeling (ESR):
- Breakdown of enlarged fat lobules
- Stimulation of new collagen formation within the skin
- Release of the fibrous septae that are tethering the skin and creating dimpling
These three mechanisms of action ultimately create smoother appearing skin without surgery or downtime!
Qwo™ Before & After
QWO™ is an enzyme (Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum-Aaes) that breaks down collagen found in certain connective tissues of your body. This enzyme is purified and fermented for safe and sterile administration into the buttock.
QWO™ is an injectable medication that is delivered via a small needle into the treatment sites. After marking the treatment sites, the provider will inject each dimpled area with the medication, treating the tissue and fat layer just under the skin. The injections are relatively painless.
Treatments are completed every 21 days, for a total of 3 sessions. These sessions are usually 10-15 minutes with little to no downtime afterwards. Your healthcare provider will give you helpful post-injection site care tips to ensure your post-treatment recovery is as easy as possible.
Results are typically seen 28 days after completion of the full treatment course (3 sessions). Get started today to start seeing results!
QWO™ is a safe and effective medication when administered by a licensed, trained, professional and in the right patient. If you are a woman with moderate to severe cellulite of the buttocks, then QWO™ may be right for you. The best candidate will have good skin and structural support without severe skin laxity. Your QWO™ provider will assess your candidacy for treatment upon consultation and exam.
QWO™ is CONTRAINDICATED in patients with the following conditions:
- Active infection in the buttock
- Open wound to the buttock
- Pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding (side effects to fetus are unknown)
- A hypersensitivity reaction or anaphylactic reaction (allergy) to Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum
- A coagulopathy (clotting/bleeding disorder) and / or who take a blood thinner, anticoagulant, or antiplatelet medication(s)
What can I expect after injection with QWO™?
You may experience mild to moderate soreness, pain, and / or bruising. In clinical trials, 84% of women had bruising to the buttock post injection. In a small proportion of these patients, bruising may be considered severe and can limit activities (i.e., prolonged standing or sitting). The good news is that these side effects usually diminish with each subsequent treatment. Some patients also report discoloration or staining of their skin, the cause of which is not fully understood.
- Pain (48% of participants)
- Nodularity (33% of participants)
- Discoloration (8% of participants)
- Swelling (8% of participants)
- Warmth (3% of participants)
- Erythema 9% of participants)
