Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a cosmetic surgical procedure that enhances the shape and volume of the buttocks using your own fat (autologous fat grafting) rather than implants. The procedure involves two main steps: liposuction to remove excess fat from donor areas (such as the abdomen, waist, flanks, or thighs) and fat purification and reinjection into the buttocks to create a fuller, more lifted appearance. Key features include a natural-looking enhancement, since your own fat is used, and the added benefit of contouring the donor areas for a slimmer silhouette. Commonly treated areas for fat removal include the abdomen, love handles, lower back, and thighs, while the fat is strategically placed in the buttocks to improve projection, roundness, and overall shape.

Recovery typically involves avoiding sitting or lying directly on the buttocks for about 2–3 weeks to ensure the transferred fat survives, with most patients wearing a compression garment on the liposuction areas to reduce swelling and support healing. Initial swelling subsides over several weeks, with final results visible after 3–6 months once the fat stabilizes. While some of the transferred fat may be naturally reabsorbed, the remaining fat cells behave like normal fat—meaning results can be long-lasting with stable weight maintenance.
