Lower Blepharoplasty with Dr. Pisarenko
Cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, or “blepharoplasty,” removes excess skin and manipulates the fat from upper and/or lower eyelids to restore a young appearance and enhance one’s natural beauty. Patients who benefit from a blepharoplasty often complain of looking tired. We will construct a plan that addresses both upper and lower eyelids by removing excess skin, removing or repositioning fat, or adding more volume. Upper eyelid incisions are well hidden in natural skin folds and generally heal well.
Many times lower eyelid incisions can be hidden or replaced by laser techniques of skin tightening. This procedure is usually combined with other facial rejuvenation options such as a browlift. Downtime is contingent on extent of your surgery and comfort level. Our staff is knowledgeable and will educate you on proper post-operative wound and skin care.
1. Consultation:
The process begins with a consultation where the surgeon assesses the patient’s concerns and discusses expectations.
2. Anesthesia:
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery and patient preference.
3. Incisions:
The surgeon makes incisions, often concealed within the natural lines of the lower eyelid or inside the lower lid. The choice depends on the specific case and the surgeon’s technique.
4. Fat Repositioning or Removal:
Excess fat is either repositioned to address hollow areas or removed to eliminate puffiness, depending on the patient’s needs.
5. Muscle and Skin Adjustment:
Muscles may be tightened, and excess skin is trimmed to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.
6. Closure:
Once adjustments are made, the incisions are closed with fine sutures or other closure methods.
7. Recovery:
Patients may experience swelling and bruising, which usually subsides over the following weeks. Cold compresses and prescribed medications help manage discomfort.
8. Results:
Results become more apparent as swelling diminishes, revealing a refreshed and rejuvenated lower eyelid area.
It’s crucial to note that individual experiences and recovery times can vary, and consultation with a qualified surgeon is necessary for personalized information.
